Gurban Gurbanov: "It was a very important victory"

Following the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round first leg match between Shelbourne and Qarabağ (0–3), our head coach Gurban Gurbanov shared his thoughts. The experienced manager evaluated the match in Ireland during the post-match press conference:

“I congratulate my players. It was a very important victory. As I said yesterday, the opponent could create tension for us at any moment on this pitch. We witnessed that today. Despite winning 3–0, we must put that behind us and prepare even more seriously for the return leg. A small number of our fans were present, and I thank each one of them for their support.”

The head coach also stated that they will approach the second leg with the same seriousness: “I absolutely do not think that the tie is decided. Shelbourne is a team that doesn’t like to lose and knows what it’s doing on the pitch. Perhaps they played at a tempo that didn’t suit us. However, our defenders didn’t allow their attackers any chances. In the match in Baku, we must be even more focused than we were today. This was our first game of the season. I believe we will improve in the upcoming matches.”
