“Our players fought without hesitation”

Following the UEFA Champions League group stage Matchday 4 encounter between “Qarabağ” and “Chelsea” (England), which ended in a 2–2 draw, our head coach Qurban Qurbanov shared his thoughts at the post-match press conference.     

“I congratulate our fans. Our Victory Day is approaching, and we consider this draw a positive result. I must especially highlight the fighting spirit our players showed without hesitation — they fought in a way that truly reflects the Azerbaijani character.
It’s the first time we’ve earned a point against an English club, which is a great achievement for us. When the desire comes from the heart, good results follow. We still have a chance, and we’ll try to make the most of it.”

The experienced coach also noted that facing a club like Chelsea provides valuable experience for the team:

“It’s always a pleasure to host such major teams in Baku. Competing against world-class players gives us great experience. Playing football alongside top-level clubs requires taking risks — and I’m proud of the courage shown by my players today.”
