Qarabağ once again made history

Our team, which has achieved numerous historic firsts in Azerbaijani football, has added another milestone to its legacy. Qarabag have advanced past the main stage of the UEFA Champions League and secured qualification for the play-offs.

This marks a first-ever achievement in the history of Azerbaijani football. Our team officially sealed this success in the final round of this season’s League Phase.

Following the Matchday 8 fixture against the renowned English side Liverpool (0:6) in England, Qarabag’s final position in the competition was confirmed. After eight rounds of matches, our team finished 22nd among the top 24 teams. This result allowed Qarabag to continue their campaign in Europe’s most prestigious club competition.

As a result, Qarabag have become the first and only club in the history of Azerbaijani football to both qualify for the main stages of all three UEFA club competitions and advance to the next round in each of them. By achieving historic success in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League, our team had already earned the distinction of being the first Azerbaijani club to progress beyond a European stage back in 1999.

In the 2017/18 season, Qarabag made history by qualifying for the UEFA Champions League group stage for the first time. Eight years later, the club repeated this achievement. In their second appearance in the League Phase, Qarabag went one step further by advancing to the play-offs.

It should also be noted that in the 2021/22 season, Qarabag progressed from the group stage of the UEFA Europa Conference League and qualified for the play-offs. One year later, the team once again experienced the play-off stage of the UEFA Europa Conference League after finishing third in their UEFA Europa League group. In the 2023/24 season, Qarabag advanced from the group stage of the UEFA Europa League and went on to reach the Round of 16 after successfully passing the play-off round.
