“The players fought until the end"

Our head coach, Gurban Gurbanov, who is currently with the team at the training camp in Austria, shared his thoughts with our website. He commented on today’s friendly match against the Ukrainian club “Metalist 1925” (4:5):

“It was a very good game. Both teams used two different lineups. Our players are still far from their optimal form. The opponent looked better prepared. They forced us to play at a faster pace. It was a dynamic contest. This was their third match. I saw both strengths and shortcomings in our team. The positive thing was that, despite conceding five goals, the players fought until the end. We will now start preparing for the upcoming matches. We have some deficiencies in our build-up play, and we’ll try to fix that. Overall, I was satisfied with the performance of my team.”

The head coach also shared his thoughts on the progress of the training camp in Austria: “I think we made good use of the first five days in Austria. Yes, there was some fatigue among the players due to the intense workload, but everyone is training with motivation and responsibility. Although I’m not satisfied with today’s result, I’m happy with how our program is progressing.”
