"The team finished the season on a positive note"

After the Matchday 36 game of the Misli Premier League between "Shamakhi" and "Qarabağ" (0:1), our team’s head coach Gurban Gurbanov held a press conference. The experienced specialist shared his thoughts about the match:

"Today, we had young players on the field. They fought very well until the end and knew what they wanted to do on the pitch. It was the last game of the season in the championship, and our players stayed focused until the final whistle. I congratulate all of them. Both teams finished the season on a positive note. Of course, I also thank the fans. They stood by the players and the team."

The head coach, who recently visited Spain’s "Barcelona" club, shared his impressions of the trip: "I spent a few days there. I attended training sessions of almost all age groups, including the senior team. It was a very good trip. We had conversations with club officials and also with head coach Hansi Flick. It was very important for me to go there. I was once again convinced that it’s crucial to preserve and maintain a system. The players who implement that system must love it. Such trips provide both valuable experience and confidence. As a result, your work becomes more effective."

Gurban Gurbanov also commented on the recent call-ups of young players Amin Rzayev and Hikmat Jabrayilzade to the Azerbaijan U-21 national team: "For such players to grow quickly, it’s important that they are part of a higher-level collective. You have to trust them and be able to make decisions. The sooner they participate in major tournaments, the faster their skills will improve."

The experienced coach also shared his goals regarding the Azerbaijan Cup final match against "Sabah" to be held on May 31: "We have always taken the Cup seriously. If we hadn’t, we wouldn’t have reached the final. Since we’re in the final, we want to win the trophy. But in front of us stands a motivated team with quality players who also want to win the title. We will prepare seriously."
