"We will try to achieve a better result"
Following the second leg match of the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round between Qarabağ and Shelbourne (1:0), our head coach Gurban Gurbanov shared his thoughts. The experienced coach evaluated the match at the post-game press conference:
"I congratulate my players. We won both matches and advanced to the next round. I have no criticisms for the players because they are still far from being in their optimal form. We had amazing supporters today. Seeing so many fans in the stadium is both pleasant and an extra source of motivation."
The head coach also noted that the new signings are gradually adapting to the team: "The adaptation process of the new players is going well. They’re not doing badly in training. It's true that they are not fully prepared technically or physically yet. But they need a few more games to fully adapt. The more they communicate with other players, the easier it will be for them to integrate into the game."
Gurban Gurbanov linked the team’s qualification for the group stage of European competitions for the 12th consecutive year to consistency and expressed a desire for continued success in the new season: "We want more, both in the league and in European competitions. If we have the chance to achieve maximum results, we will use it. We’ll try to perform better in Europe than we did last season. Playing in the group stage of European tournaments means hosting teams from many different countries. This helps promote football in Azerbaijan, provides people with quality entertainment, and motivates young people to take up football. It also encourages parents to confidently enroll their children in the sport."
