"We’ll Have to Move a Lot on the Pitch"

Ahead of the UEFA Champions League League Stage Matchday 3 fixture between Athletic Club (Spain) and Qarabağ, our team’s head coach Qurban Qurbanov and defender Kevin Medina attended a pre-match press conference. They shared their thoughts on tomorrow’s encounter.

Qurban Qurbanov said his team is ready to face a strong opponent:
“It’s an important match. We’ll be playing against a very good team. They have an experienced head coach and a distinctive playing style — dynamic, very fast, and aggressive both in defense and attack. Our experience is growing year by year. We know that we’ll have to move a lot and think a lot on the pitch. We’ll try to play more compactly and withstand Athletic’s tempo. I believe our fans will be satisfied with the game we show and the fight we put up.”

The head coach also commented on the growing interest in Qarabağ’s success in Turkey:
“We always receive great support from our brother country, Turkey. Even when we play away, they come to our matches. I want to thank all of them. It’s a wonderful feeling. Knowing that so many people value us increases both our responsibility and motivation.”

Kevin Medina also emphasized their determination to put up a worthy performance:
“We’ll try to put up a decent fight against Athletic. We’re not only playing against the Williams brothers, but against the whole Athletic team. Nico and Iñaki are valuable players. Last season, I wasn’t in good form, so this season I’m able to stay more motivated for the matches.”
